The Brighton Crime Wave and Myriad Editions present Elizabeth Haynes and Peter Adamson

This month, on a spookily fortuitous date (see below), we are proud to present two extraordinary novels by two crime/thriller writers who share fascinating past careers. Both books are published by Myriad Editions.

In The Murder of Harriet Monckton, Elizabeth Haynes turns the skills she honed working for many years as a police analyst to an unsolved historical murder, which occurred, weirdly coincidentally, on 6 November, 1843. Elizabeth is a great favourite with readers. Her New York Times best-selling debut novel, Into the Darkest Corner, won both Amazon's Book of the Year and Amazon's Rising Star Award. She is also a great proponent of NaNoWriMo, so this is a perfect event for anyone tackling their 2018 novel-in-a-month.

'I loved The Murder of Harriet Monckton; what a tour de force! I'm blown away. Elizabeth Haynes completely transported me to that time and place. I also found the novel incredibly moving and I'm so glad to know Harriet's story. The novel is an absolute triumph.' Elly Griffiths

Our grilling subject this month is Peter Adamson. The Kennedy Moment, his third novel, is a daring, ingenious and profoundly moving political thriller. Peter’s career – he founded New Internationalist magazine in the 1970s and was for sixteen years a Senior Adviser to the Executive Director of UNICEF – has put him at the very heart of international affairs, so no one is better qualified to write about world-spanning conspiracies and high-level plotting.

"Intelligent and thought-provoking, his new novel is a suspenseful and gripping tale with well-rounded characters and a plot that is outrageous yet plausible." --Oxford Times
