Elly Griffiths is the pen-name of British author Domenica de Rosa. A former Editorial Director for children’s books at Harper Collins, Griffiths published her first novel, The Italian Quarter, in 1998 under her own name. A holiday in Norfolk inspired her to write what would become the bestselling novel The Crossing Places, the first novel in the Dr Ruth Galloway series of mystery novels and Rosa’s first novel as Elly Griffiths. She is also the author of the popular Stephens and Mephisto novels which began with the Zig Zag Girl.
Griffiths' post-war Brighton-set mystery series continues apace, with the compelling case of a murdered magician's assistant and a boarding house with its own dark secrets.
From cosy crime to chilling ghost stories, this immersive collection of short fiction from the creator of the Ruth Galloway novels showcases Griffiths' astonishing versatility and storytelling skills across a wide range of genres.
The crime writer extraordinaire delivers an unputdownable first instalment in a new series with a time-travelling spin, as an unsolved mystery takes cold cases investigator Ali Dawson – quite literally – to the freezing London of January 1850.
