Ali Hazelwood does it again!

When I saw the copy of Love on the Brain, I was too excited for words! I loved the Love Hypothesis and was so excited for her new book, and Ali Hazelwood did not disappoint. In this book we follow Levi and Bee, as they are forced to work together for a project with NASA and NIH, despite some previous animosity between the two (or maybe not...). I absolutely loved the characters in this novel, potentially more than TLH (although that is a tough battle). The characters, the plot, the banter all of it just works so well in this novel, you instantly fall in love with Bee and her personality, she's a character you just love to read from! Levi as well was such a great male lead in this, I loved what Hazelwood did with his character and the depth you get to see to understand who he is. I'm just upset I have to wait I don't know how long for Hazelwood's next instalment, but as soon as it becomes known I will be pre-ordering it the second that I can.

Thank you so much Little Brown for an early copy of this book for review!

Quirky, Funny and Cute

After absolutely devouring The Love Hypothesis, I was ecstatic to be given an arc for this MUCH anticipated book (Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group (UK)!!). I was instantly in love with Ali Hazelwood’s style and character portrayals and was left wanting more more MORE! I was not left disappointed by Love on The Brain. It is everything Hazelwood is good at, and better. (Go girl, give us EVERYTHING)

This story centres around Bea - a neurotic neuroscientist suffering from the long-term effects of a broken heart, as she begins work on the neuro-engineering project of her dreams, just with the work partner of her nightmares. Eager to impress and prove the science-bro mansplainers wrong, she perseveres, and an unlikely alliance ensues.

This is in no way related to the events of The Love Hypothesis, but those who loved it as much as I did, will enjoy the parallels and similarities that could become Hazelwoods trademark. No complaints from me in that subject, these tropes and quirks are a rom-com novels bread and butter!

I was grinning from ear to ear at moments, curling my toes in horrifying second hand embarrassment at others. With a good helping of enemies to lovers, a sizeable dollop of miscommunication, this turns out to be another gem from Hazelwood that might just be my favourite Rom-com of 2022.

Loved it!

I devoured this book in a couple of days, much like I had done with The Love Hypothesis.

I think I adored Love on the Brain even more, just because it really had me laughing out loud at some of Bee's inner monologue or Rocio's lines (Rocio is the best). The romance was really well done, I really liked the smut and the characters.

I will say tho, Hazelwood has a THING for Adam Driver and every one of her love interests so far has been him (note that I am not complaining). Some things were quite similar to the Love Hypothesis which didn't necessarily bother me but I could notice.

That ending was WILD.

Highly recommend for nay romance fans!

Loved this book!! I highly recommend!!

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood is an utterly charming, witty, and irresistibly fun romance that I couldn't put down! The story follows Bee, a brilliant neuroscientist navigating the complexities of her career, while also dealing with a quirky, slow-burn romance with her seemingly grumpy (but totally swoon-worthy) colleague, Levi. Hazelwood’s writing is sharp and filled with humour, and the chemistry between Bee and Levi is absolutely magnetic. The characters are relatable, the dialogue is clever, and the plot is full of heart, humour, and a touch of science that makes it feel fresh and unique. If you're looking for a feel-good, enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of humour and heart, Love on the Brain is a must-read. Highly recommend!

I Hypothesise You Will Love This Book

If you liked The Love Hypothesis you will LOVE this. I requested an advanced reading copy the second they became available, and it definitely lived up to expectations. I was up until 1:37am laughing aloud. Refreshingly quirky, lots of laughs and some great references to Pride and Prejudice (my all-time favourite) and Star Wars (zero interest, haven't seen them - still made sense and didn't at all take away my enjoyment of the story... despite my preferring Star Trek). My favourite book so far this year.

Women in STEM are BOSS!

I was a massive fan of The Love Hypothesis so I was over the Moon to receive an arc of Hazelwoods new book -“Love On The Brain”

Another book with a STEM setting, it gave me everything I needed. Bee is a kick ass, smart, hilarious and feminist character and I absolutely love her! Hazelwood manages to create amazing female characters that show just how smart and powerful women can be when they come together. Rocio, Bee’s RA was a brilliant characters that added so much to the story, she stole every scene she was in and she was just *heart eyes* the fact she ended up with a woman was just the icing on a perfectly crafted character. Can we please have a book with her as the main character please!

Levi was swoon worthy, His and Bees dynamic was perfect and the fact that we’re just two science loving, vegan eating science fiction nerds was amazing. They had so much in common but had completely different personalities and it worked! I feel like every man should now live up to the started that is Levi.

The science part of the book is so interesting and I’m hoping the STEM setting is something that Hazelwood sticks with. It’s so important that I to see that women can be scientists and just how smart and powerful we can be, especially when we unite together to help one another.

this book was a lot of fun, and had a lot of the same elements of 'the love hypothesis' which i really loved. our main characters were so well developed and i loved the way that their romance blossomed throughout. hazelwoods characters are always so relatable and bee and levi were absolutely no exception. the romance was so good and i loved them both so much!! i really appreciated the discussions around women in stem and the troubles they face, and science as a discipline in general. such a wonderful novel.

Romance, humour and CATS

This was such a fun and heartwarming read!!

Ali is such a must buy and must read author for me and oh my gosh, I just LOVE Bee and Levi!!

I feel like this was honestly my favourite of Ali’s books, the romance, the humour and my favourite…the CATS

It’s such a feel good book and I loved getting to know Levi and Bee, see their relationship grow, their humour which had me smiling so much and one of my favourite parts is Bee’s internal monologuing, it’s so accurate to how I sometimes think myself and I loved it! Such a great element to be inside the characters head but in a more ‘talk to yourself’ kind of way and I loved that touch!

Argh I love Ali Hazelwood

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood is a delightful contemporary romance with charming characters, witty banter, and a unique STEM setting. The story follows neuroscientist Bee Königswasser as she co-leads a NASA neuro-engineering project with her former grad school nemesis Levi Ward, whom she begins to develop feelings for. The seamless integration of STEM elements was such a major highlight for me! Not to mention the well-developed characters, including Bee's quirky personality and Levi's vulnerable side, make for an entertaining and engaging read.

Honestly, Ali has become one of my favourite authors as of late and I wish I could get more stories from her. Every time I read one of her books I want to switch degrees and pursue science. However, I'm currently 6 years into my degree so that probably wouldn't be wise to switch....

This is a must-read for contemporary romance fans who enjoy a smart and refreshing take on the genre!!

Marie Curie stans approve

This book was everything The Love Hypothesis was but better! There was so much content and reference to popular culture that made me laugh, and I found Bee to be a very relatable character.

Making use of enemies to lovers, insta-love, and miscommunication tropes, I think this book will fly with TikTok audiences.

Ali Hazelwood has a hold of my money and I think I will buy everything she writes!
