This book viscerally captures a snapshot of time. I loved the jumping of focus between popular culture and more serious social upheaval and events - it immediately portrays to the reader a febrile and heady season. As a book it is a really effective deep dive, but also full of warmth and humour. It employs a highly engaging conversational tone. I imagine for those who lived through the summer of 1976, there would be an added poignancy also (indeed my mother has already asked to borrow my copy!)
