Olivier Norek was a new and unknown author for me, and this novel proved to be an entirely different story to what I was expecting! Capitaine Vincente Coste is on the point of resigning from his job when he’s involved in a case that causes him to break his golden rule of never taking things personally. There’s a kidnap, a raid on the law courts and a cast of characters who seem wildly mis-matched but are somehow linked – and Coste and his team must make sense of it all. It’s a good story - dark, hard hitting and well-paced - but it didn’t completely grab my imagination.
