Reviews: A Pawtobiography (10)

Strange but true

This book is such an easy enjoyable read. Tells us all to remember that dogs are with us for life not just that fleeting moment of time. They are part of our family.
It surprises all the followers of Gone Fishing as we all thought Ted belonged to either Mortimer or Whitehouse.
We would all like a dog as well trained as Ted but it takes a lot of patience time and effort.
Just a super book

What a star !

A wonderful book that I read in a day. Ted has come from humble beginnings as the 3rd star of Gone Fishing. Loved his time with his previous dog friends - quite sad in places. Highly recommend.

Be More Ted

Star of Ted Gone Fishing, (The humans are just background players), everyones' favourite mostly Patterdale brings his life story to life with gentle humour, shares his behind the scenes experiences of the glitzy world of television, and his views on how humans can do a better job of caring for dogs. His "tails" of early life, from rejection, time in a shelter, to his adoption, show what has made our hero into the megastar he is today, despite having to put up with Mortimer & Whitehouse. Central to all this is his neverending search for his missing briefcase, and the ne'erd o well Vinnie, last seen scarpering with said luggage. We'll have to wait for the release of "Pup Fiction" to find out how the story goes.
You have to read this, of course, in Teds' dulcet tones, for the fullest effect, except for a couple of lines on page 116, which made me laugh out loud. (No spoilers!)
There is so much to take away from this little volume. The importance of living life, finding love, and never giving up the search for your briefcase. And of course, Being More Ted.

Great book

Ted is a character - naughty and funny. Its such a lovely book for entertaining and giving an insight into what Bob, Paul and he get up to on Gone Fishing but telling us how we should treat our dogs. There were some bits at which I couldn't stop chuckling. It's well worth reading.

Great follow up

Enjoyed the first book so much I just had to read this one too. Love the adventures of Ted and his wonderful take on life. Lots of laugh out loud lines and also tales that make you stop and think about how we should treat each other. We should all try to be a bit more Ted in life.

Not The Silly Coffee Table Book I Thought It Would Be!

I love Gone Fishing and assumed this would be a silly little coffee table companion book with corny jokes and hyperbolic anecdotes about the TV show. It is not those things.

My wife was quite confused to come into our living room in floods of tears as I reached the end of this book. Ted’s story does have the humour and anecdotes you will be hoping for but it is also incredibly ‘human’ and connects us with loss, sharing feelings and relationships in ways that much more ‘serious books’ fail to do! If you have a dog in your life, have ever felt the runt of the litter or need to feel hope that things can turn around for you then this book is a must read. And away.
