the author plots a fairly ordered history of libya under gadaffi. she intersperses conversations with people from the earlier revolutions with the younger generation. this puts the book in the style of a television documentary. she breaks the chronological history with these conversations which give it place and during the actual recent fighting gives you a real sense of the what it was like at the time.
