This is so far the only original full length novel to feature the brilliant war doctor (the ninth doctor in terms of regenerations) as played by the late and much missed John hurt. It's a great book, well written and with an intriguing story. The war doctor is brilliant in it and you can almost hear those gravely tones as he discovers what the daleks and the time lords are plotting. I really enjoyed this book and another war doctor volume is long overdue.
“A Thrilling Novel That Expands The Lore Beautifully”
I have always wanted to get into Doctor Who extended media for a while and picking up this book didn't make me regret wanting to. I'll try keep this review spoiler free but it was amazing from start to finish not only was the War Doctor written similar to the way Moffat wrote him but he also had his character amazingly expanded on. I also adore the way Mann writes the Daleks and makes them seem pretty terrifying throughout the story. Daleks have been written pretty poorly recently so its good they were written well in this book.
I also adored how it expanded on Day Of The Doctor and served as a prequel which provided so much more context.
An amazing story that I highly recommend for any whovian and Day Of The Doctor fan.
