Reviews: Doctor Who: The Shakespeare Notebooks (1)

The doctors and the bard

I'm not a great fan of Shakespeare. I find most of the plays impenetrable and dull. Sacrilege I know, but it's just not for me. However, stick the doctor in there add some companions and the occasional sontaran or dalek and I'll happily read away. I enjoyed this book a lot. I can appreciate why Shakespeare is revered. I get that the stories are quintessential. But as I say the actual words do nothing for me. So yes, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I may not like Shakespeare but I know a lot of the plays so found it fascinating to see a who take on familiar tales. The book is great and is excellently illustrated as well. Give the bard a chance. (I still won't be reading the original plays again though...)
