Williamson was born and raised in Canterbury and developed a fascination with languages at an early age, which led her to study French and Italian at the University of Bath. She began work on what would become her debut Young Adult novel A Language of Dragons (2025) whilst enrolled on the MA course in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University. The novel, about a resourceful girl attempting to decode dragon speech in an alternate reality Bletchley Park, became a bestseller and won the Older Readers category of the 2026 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize. The sequel, A War of Wyverns, was published in January 2026.
