The Man Booker International Prize 2016 shortlist

The six titles that comprise the 2016 Man Booker International Prize shortlist have just been announced and we are thrilled to see that they include Austrian author Robert Seethhaler's A Whole Life, a previous Waterstones Book of The Month, as well as pseudonymous Italian author and publishing phenomenon Elena Ferrante's The Story of the Lost Child, the fourth in her sequence of Neapolitan novels that have proved such a remarkable hit with our customers.

The chair of the judges, former Independent literary editor Boyd Tonkin, said "Our selection shows that the finest books in translation extend the boundaries not just of our world - but of the art of fiction itself. We hope that readers everywhere will share our pleasure and excitement in this shortlist."
