A bestselling Polish fantasy writer, Andrzej Sapkowski is best-known for his series The Witcher. Originating in Sapkowski’s first short story, the Witcher cycle follows the path of assassin witcher Geralt of Rivia, a man trained from infancy to hunt and destroy the monsters that plague his world. Heavily influenced by Slavic mythology, the series became the inspiration for a successful computer game series and has been adapted for a Netflix adaptation in 2019.
Novels in the Witcher pentalogy are, in order, Blood of Elves, Time of Contempt, Baptism of Fire, The Tower of Swallows and Lady of the Lake. There are also a number of short stories set in the same world, collected in Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish.
