Writing the North: Marie-Elsa Bragg & Ian McMillan
Monday 19th June 19:00 - 20:30 at London - Piccadilly
Join us for an evening with Marie-Elsa Bragg, astounding debut author of Towards Mellbreak, and renowned poet and presenter of BBC Radio 3’s ‘The Verb’ Ian McMillan who will be discussing their work.
Ian and Marie-Elsa grew up on either side of the Pennines, Ian originally from Barnsley and Marie-Elsa half-Cumbrian. The landscape and environment undeniably shaped their work and they will be joining us to discuss nature, landscape, folklore and forgotten cultures, looking at how these notions influence and weave their way into literature and writing.
Marie-Elsa Bragg’s debut novel Towards Mellbreak is a hymn both to the landscape of Cumbria and to a disappearing world, embracing the old and beloved English tradition of writing about the land, from Dorothy Wordsworth to Ted Hughes.
Ian McMillan’s latest book is To Fold the Evening Star: New & Selected Poems, which gathers work from eight key collections, spanning his wide-ranging poetry and short prose.
Tickets cost £5/3 with a Waterstones card and are available online, in tsore and by phone. For any questions or queries please contact email@example.com
