Write On! Open Mic : Short Story Workshop - Submissions

Have you often felt that you wanted to write a story but never quite found the moment and occasion?
We have been inspired by the talent and creativity of our open mic speakers, and want to offer local writers a chance to work alongside other like-minded people on a weeks-long project.

What we want to offer:

To gather a small group of writers a dedicated time and space to meet, write, share ideas, give and get feedback, and hold themselves accountable to finish a draft of a short story that will be the centre piece of our next open mic.

Dates to note:

Workshops will be in our cafe on Sunday 21st May, 28th May, 4th June and 11th June, from 2pm to 4pm.

The open mic to showcase the stories will be on Friday 16th June evening.

What we need from you:

Submissions deadline is 7th May so you have some time to think about your project.
Please send us at [email protected]

* your rough idea for a short story, its context, genre, characters
* a few words about you, the way you usually write and what you'll hope to gain from the experience
* please only apply if you're free to commit to all the workshops and the open mic

There are no right or wrong, we're just looking for ideas and people that would work well together and individually, so don't be disheartened if you're not selected this time!
We will contact you all shortly after the submission deadline.
