The Testaments Book Discussion, celebrating the publication of the Sequel to Margaret Atwood's The Handmaids Tale.

Thursday 19th September 18:00 at Basingstoke

Join us on Thursday 19th of September to discuss the literary event of the year - The Testaments - Margaret Atwood's electrifying sequel to her celebrated novel The Handmaid's Tale.

Published in 1985 The Handmaid's Tale is a classic work of feminist fiction with which chilling historical parallels can be made, making powerful comment on our world today. This took on a new life in the acclaimed award winning television adaptation.

Set 15 years after The Handmaid's Tale's ambiguous climax, and unconnected to the second season of the television series, The Testaments is set to answer the questions that have tantalised readers for decades.

Margaret Atwood says ' Dear Readers: Everything you've ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we've been living in.'

Join us for an informal discussion of The Testaments, we know we will be desperate to talk about the new revelations!

Refreshments will be provided. Contact us on 01256 460646 or basingstoke@waterstones.com to book your free place and pre-order your copy of The Testaments for £16 (£4 off RRP), with the chance to win a signed copy (terms and conditions apply).
