The MsAfropolitan Philosophy Book Club: Down Girl by Kate Manne

The MsAfropolitan Philosophy Book Club is a monthly book club where we discuss philosophical books from all over the world by people of diverse backgrounds.

Led by Minna 'Ms Afropolitan' Salami, the books we’ll read are less about philosophy as an academic subject, but rather the books are selected with the mindset that philosophy is about investigating all human experience. We may therefore include philosophical novels and poetry too.

Our first book is Kate Manne's Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny, an original, incisive, and timely treatment of a perennial but under-discussed social problem.

Despite the importance of this book, our conversation will be fun, light-hearted and informal – in other words, nothing like a serious seminar on philosophy!

Takes place in our third floor Philosophy section. Tickets are £8/6 (students/Waterstones cardholders) and include a glass of wine or soft drink. Book ahead as places are limited.
