The Garden Against Time - Olivia Laing

Olivia Laing is the acclaimed author of many non-fiction books such as The Lonely City, Funny Weather: Art in an Emergency and Everybody: A Book About Freedom.

The Garden Against Time is an investigation into the idea of paradise that tells the story of Laing's restoration of a walled garden in Suffolk, it is a stunning and erudite meditation on the role of the garden through Western culture. This beautiful new book combines history, horticulture, art and biography to weave a story of the garden as old as time.

Lucy Hughes-Hallett is a historian and novelist living in Suffolk. She is the author of The Pike: Gabriele D'Annunzio which won all three of the UK's most prestigious prizes for non-fiction. Her other non-fiction books are the acclaimed cultural histories Heroes and Cleopatra: Histories, Dreams and Distortions

We strongly advise pre-booking for this event.
