The Colour of Madness
Tuesday 30th October 18:30 at Birmingham
With a forward by the therapist, activist and feminist, Guilaine Kinouani and, contributions from mental health sufferers, mental health workers, and psychiatrists the anthology is a powerful indictment of our failure to address the disparity between BAME mental health care and that of the white community.
We will be joined in store by Reba Khatun and Dr Shahed Yousaf.
After discovering the recent Zentangle and bullet journal trend Reba’s trying her hand at art again, especially abstract art and doodling which she is using to relax and de-stress. She is delighted her first published piece of art is included in The Colour of Madness.
Dr Shahed Yousaf is a GP who works in offender health and with the homeless. He has an interest in the intersection of mental health and substance misuse. He is passionate about working class voices and the therapeutic aspects of literature. Shahed is a British writer and artist of Pakistani heritage. He has published two non-fiction books Mnemonics for Medical Undergraduates and Medical Examination Made Memorable for which he also provided the illustrations.
They will be discussing their contributions to the anthology, answering questions and signing copies.
Tickets cost £3.
