The Anarchy: The East India Company – with William Dalrymple
Thursday 3rd October 18:30 - 20:00 at London - Hatchards - Piccadilly
The story of the East India Company is far from simple that of an international trading corporation dealing in silks and spices. Indeed its founding charter authorised it to 'wage war'.
We are thrilled to welcome William Dalrymple to Hatchards for a very special evening to mark the publication of his extraordinary new book
The historian is renowned for books including Return of the King and Koh-I-Nor and tonight he will be discussing his most recent research into the history of the East India Company which was, truly, an aggressive colonial power in the guise of a multinational business ruling almost the whole of India from a boardroom in London.
