TCR Presents: An Evening with The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction Shortlist 2019

Join us at Waterstones TCR for an evening with the authors shortlisted for the 2019 Baillie Gifford Prize: the UK’s most prestigious award for non-fiction writing.

Hosted by Razia Iqbal, the evening will include readings and discussion with the shortlisted authors, an audience Q&A session and a book signing.

The shortlist for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction explores everything from racial politics and community secrets to iconic figures and powerful ideologies. There is something for everybody here. We are thrilled to announce that the shortlisted authors will all be appearing on the night. Find more details about the books below:

Formerly known as The Samuel Johnson Prize (1999 – 2015), The Baillie Gifford Prize covers all non-fiction in the areas of current affairs, history, politics, science, sport, travel, biography, autobiography and the arts.

Last year’s winner was Serhii Plokhy for Chernobyl: History of a Tragedy, the definitive account of the 1986 nuclear disaster that inspired the hit HBO miniseries.

Please note that this event will be filmed on the night by Baille Gifford.
