Tackling Anxiety: Tim Clare in conversation with Byron Vincent at Waterstones Tottenham Court Road

Tim Clare has suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for over a decade. In Coward, hee explores all the possible treatments for anxiety, from SSRIs to hypnosis, running to extreme diets. He interviews experts and becomes a guinea pig, testing their methods on himself. At the end of a year of many ups and downs, Tim discovers what helps him (and what doesn't), and what might help others. Most of all, he comes to rethink anxiety and encourages all of us to do the same.

Tim Clare is an award-winning writer, poet and creative-writing podcaster. He is the author of We Can’t All Be Astronauts and the novels The Honours (longlisted for the Desmond Elliot Prize) and The Ice House. He has performed his work at festivals and clubs across the world, on BBC TV and radio. Tim has also written for the Guardian, Times, Independent and Big Issue, and presents the creative-writing podcast Death Of 1,000 Cuts, which has over 10,000 regular listeners.

Byron Vincent is a neurodiverse writer, performer, broadcaster and activist with a long and varied career. He has performed spoken word at music and literary festivals for which he was picked as one of BBC poetry season’s New Talent Choices and has written and presented may documentaries for BBC Radio 4. Byron is a passionate social activist with lived experience of issues around poverty, neurodiversity and mental health.

This Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May), join us for an evening of discussion regarding the stigma surrounding mental health and how we can make efforts to move forward together.
