Stig Abell and Mark Billingham in conversation at Waterstones Piccadilly

We are thrilled to welcome Stig Abell and Mark Billingham to Waterstones Piccadilly to discuss their new releases Death in a Lonely Place and The Last Dance. Detective Jake Jackson moved to the countryside for a quieter life - but the return of an old case shatters the calm, and pulls him into the shadowy world of a secretive group serving the extravagant whims of the elite.

Stig Abell presents the breakfast show on Times Radio, a station he helped to launch in 2020. Before that, he was a regular presenter on Radio 4’s Front Row and was the editor and publisher of the Times Literary Supplement. He was chair of the judges for the 2019 Baillie Gifford Prize. His books include How Britain Really Works and Death Under a Little Sky, his first crime novel.

Mark Billingham has twice won the Theakston’s Old Peculier Award for Crime Novel of the Year, and has also won a Sherlock Award for the Best Detective created by a British writer. Each of the novels featuring Detective Inspector Tom Thorne has been a Sunday Times bestseller. Sleepyhead and Scaredy Cat were made into a hit TV series on Sky 1 starring David Morrissey as Thorne, and a series based on the novels In the Dark and Time of Death was broadcast on BBC1.

Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of Death in a Lonely Place (RRP. £16.99) which will be available for collection on the night.
