Summer of Spies: Charles Cumming on The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

Tuesday 5th September 18:30 at London - Gower Street

As we eagerly await the release of John Le Carré’s new novel A Legacy of Spies, Waterstones Gower Street celebrates some of his best-known and most iconic thrillers with a series of Rereading Le Carré evenings, featuring some of the best writers of modern spy fiction.

On September 5th, Charles Cumming  will be talking to the Telegraph’s crime and thriller critic Jake Kerridge about JohnLe Carré’s breakthrough 1963 novel, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, a gripping story of love and betrayal at the height of the Cold War.

Charles Cumming has been described as ‘the best of the new generation of British spy writers who are taking over where John le Carré and Len Deighton left off’ (Observer). In 1995, he was approached for recruitment by the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). His first novel, A Spy by Nature (2001) was based on his experience with MI6. In 2012, Charles won the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for Best Thriller and the Bloody Scotland Crime Book of the Year for A Foreign Country. A Divided Spy is his eighth novel.
