Read a Black Author - 2018

Saturday 20th October 14:30 at Nottingham

Joins us in the Sillitoe Room on the fourth floor of Waterstones Nottingham immediately after the Read a Black Author flash mob in the Old Market Square, where we'll be inviting you to read aloud a short extract from the book you've been reading at the event.

Each reader has 3 minutes on the clock, so selection is critical!

The first #RaBA took place in the Nottingham Old Market Square in 2016 and was attended by Sandy Mahal Director of UNESCO City of Literature.

In 2017 participation grew and #RaBA was attended by a number of Nottingham’s notable writers including David Belbin YA fiction writer and James Walker the then editor of Left Lion Magazine.

Read a Black Author 2018 is now set to take place in public spaces across the country, Birmingham, London, Leicester, Derby and Bristol are already part of the line up with more to follow.

Join the campaign to raise the profile of black writers, locally, nationally and internationally by helping to promote the reading of diverse authors. #RaBA 2018 will take place on Saturday October 20th at 2pm in various locations around the country.

It doesn’t matter what age, ethnicity or ability you are anyone can take part in #RaBA. The aim is to raise awareness of black writers and to promote the buying of black books as well as to promote reading in general.
