We are delighted to welcome the award-winning producer and poet, Henry Normal to the stage in the Sillitoe Room at Waterstones Nottingham to read from his brand new collection, Raining Upwards at this very special launch event,

Nottingham-born Henry Normal is a writer, poet and TV & Film producer, the founder of the Manchester Poetry Festival and co-founder of the Nottingham Poetry Festival; who was awarded a BAFTA for services to television in June 2017.

Setting up Baby Cow Productions Ltd in 1999 Henry was Executive Producer and Script Editor on many of the shows of its seventeen and a half year output during his tenure as MD.

Highlights of the Baby Cow output during this time include Philomena, I Believe in Miracles, Gavin and Stacey, The Mighty Boosh, Red Dwarf and Alan Partridge,

Since retiring in April 2016 Henry has written and performed two BBC Radio 4 shows A Normal Family and A Normal Life combining comedy, poetry and stories about bringing up his autistic son.

He is currently writing a book on Autism for Two Roads publishers A Normal Family drawing on his family experience

Henry performs poetry at Literature Festival's around the UK and has two recent poetry books out Staring Directly at the Eclipse and Travelling Second Class Through Hope.

He was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters from Nottingham Trent University and has had a beer named after him in Nottingham!

Out at the end of September 2017, Raining Upwards is his first book with all new poetry for twenty five years. It contains 100 poems exploring science, nature, humanity and other important matters we are usually too busy to think about.
