Private Moments- Poetry Evening

Thursday 7th July 19:00 at Birmingham

PRIVATE MOMENTS
with special guests aplenty

Ten of the region’s best poetry and prose performers bring you funny, serious, light, dark and always intimate tales about the very smallest of rooms.

Charlie Jordan/Maggie Doyle/Lorna Meehan/Laura Yates aka the Divas, who will perform stories and poems set in the girls’ toilets at a school – where there are scary tales of what’s expected when you’re a grown-up woman.

Laura Yates will also explore her experience as a glass collector, skiving in a nightclub toilet in the mid 1990s, watching Birmingham's Elite empty their bladders and fill their noses. She will also reprise a poem with Lorna Meehan, that came from an unlikely conversation between two small girls in a primary school toilet

Roy McFarlane who will be taking you on a journey of private moments exploring the  delicacy of loving, moving on to moments of loss realised at an Injustice march, finally rising to a moment in the hands of a poet.

Matt Windle is going to take you inside the mind of a boxer

Gary Longden takes a different small room and performs about the loneliness of the ballot booth.

Cat Weatherill has a tale of using a toilet as a dressing room

Jenny Hope is going to take you through the two minutes of waiting for the result of a pregnancy test

Sarah James has poems including Handiwork which looks at what goes on behind the closed doors of the Ladies

Plus Marcia Calame, William Gallagher.
