Waterstones, London - Piccadilly

- The White Road by Sarah Lotz (Hodder & Stoughton). This cutting-edge thriller begins when adrenalin junkie Simon Newman travels into the bowels of a notoriously dangerous caving system, intent on generating viral video content. But the guide he's hired is as unpredictable as the watery caverns beneath the earth. Simon’s life is about to change for ever.
- The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp (Orbit). This twisted chiller, currently being developed for cinema by Ron Howard, follows journalist Jack Sparks – one of the least likeable protagonists in modern fiction – as he sets out to debunk the supernatural with his new book, and leads himself to a diabolical end.
- The Twenty Days of Turin by Giorgio de Maria (translated by Ramon Glazov, Liveright). In this cult 1970’s Italian novel, available at last in English translation, an outburst of mass psychosis grips the city of Turin. A dark metaphor for the political turmoil in Italy at the time, the story has uncanny parallels in today’s extremist terrors, and the social media that fuel them.
