As part of the Norwich City of Ale festival, we welcome three esteemed authors to Waterstones to talk about their latest books.
Pete Brown is a British author, journalist, broadcaster and consultant specialising in food and drink, especially the fun parts like beer and cider. Across nine books, his broad, fresh approach takes in social history, cultural commentary, travel writing, personal discovery and natural history, and his words are always delivered with the warmth and wit you’d expect from a great night down the pub. He writes for newspapers and magazines around the world and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. He was named British Beer Writer of the Year in 2009, 2012 and 2016, has won three Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards, and has been shortlisted twice for the Andre Simon Awards. He lives in London with his wife Liz, and dog Mildred.
Roger Protz is one of the world's leading beer writers, historians, lecturers and tasters. He is the author of more than 20 books on the subject, including 300 Beers to Try Before You Die, one of the biggest-selling books on the subject. Other books include The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Beer, the World Guide to Beer and IPA: A Legend in our Time. He has edited more than 20 editions of the annual CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Adrian Tierney-Jones is an award-winning journalist and author who specialises in beer, food, pubs and travel and how they all go together. His work has appeared in Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Beer, All About Beer (USA), Original Gravity and the Daily Mail. Books include 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die (editor), Great British Pubs, Britain’s Beer Revolution, London Pubs Past and Present and Brewing Champions. Has also contributed to The Oxford Companion to Beer, World Beer and 1001 Restaurants You Must Experience Before You Die.
Beer and Books! This event will include presentations by the three renowned authors above, (all award winners and members of the British Guild of Writers) and a beer tasting!
Tickets are £5, £3 is redeemable against a purchase on the night, and £2 goes towards the City of Ale festival.
