New Poetries - An Evening with the Poets of Carcanet Press
Tuesday 26th September 2017
18:30 - 20:30 at
Waterstones, London - Gower Street

This event is a reunion of the New Poetries VI crowd and a celebration of the fact that most of these poets published their debut collections with Carcanet in 2016/17.
Hot off the press will be Claudine Toutoungi's "Smoothie" which is officially published on National Poetry Day, and there will also be a preview of Judith Willson's "Crossing the Mirror Line" (out in October). Eric Langley's "Raking Light" was shortlisted for Best First Collection in the 2017 Forward Prizes, while Rebecca Watt's "The Met Office Advises Caution", Adam Crothers' "Several Deer" and Alex Wong’s ‘’Poems Without Irony’’ were all in the running for this year's Seamus Heaney Prize (with Crothers winning. "Several Deer" also scooped the 2017 Shine/Strong Award. John Clegg's "Holy Toledo!" was shortlisted for the 2017 Ledbury Forte Poetry Prize for Second Collections and Joey Connolly, author of "Long Pass" is an Eric Gregory Award Winner.
So come raise a toast to these promising young poets and to the next generation of poetry!
