The Testaments out now

Margaret Atwood's The Testaments - The Big Open-Mic Celebration

Tuesday 10th September 19:00 at Bristol - Galleries

It is nearly 35 years since readers worldwide discovered Atwood's masterpiece The Handmaid's Tale – and the world in 2019 has blurred the fiction lines further...

Join us as we celebrate the return to the Divine Republic of Gilead with The Testaments, and a very special evening featuring Bristol's own creative talent!

We are gathering authors, poets, spoken-words artists, musicians and performers to express themselves and share their works about Bristol and The Handmaid's Tale.

Do you want to declare prose about dystopia? Speak in rhymes for feminism? Write a pamphlet or a song on how the city we live in makes you feel? We want to hear from you!

Please send your pieces to

We're now very excited to confirm Bristol-based Tanya Atapattu as our feature author for the evening!
She will be joined by Jane Shemilt and other local speakers.

We're also happy to announce that poets from the Urban Word Collective will be reading from their new Lyrically Justified 3 (featuring The Last Poets!) with Muneera Pilgrim, Kev the Poet, Zed Regal, Rowan James, and Pearl Kofi.
