Life Writing: An Introduction, with Graham Caveney

Monday 8th October 18:00 - 20:00 at Nottingham

The course will examine what it means to write a life – either one's own or someone else's. The focus will be very much on individual practice but will be stimulated by short weekly readings that will be distributed before each session. The course will help develop the practice of life-writing through a mixture of practical workshops and critical appreciation of the autobiographies and memoirs of other writers. Students will be encouraged to write their own material and to workshop each others writing in the classes.

Suitable for writers at all levels.

Six week course running from 6pm – 8pm on Mondays between the 8th October and the 12th November, in the Sillitoe Room at Waterstones Nottingham. Please go to for more information.

Graham Caveney's most recent book is The Boy with the Perpetual Nervousness: A Memoir of Adolescence. He has also written biographies of William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg as well as working as a journalist for The Face, NME, The Guardian, The Independent, and GQ Magazine.
