LHWF: Anne O'Brien and Joanna Hickson

Saturday 28th October 11:30 at The Storey, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, LA1 1TH

Waterstones presents the Lancaster Historical Writing Festival, celebrating the outstanding range of new historical fiction and non-fiction books with a three-day programme of events across the city centre.
While former monarchs are venerated or at the very least remembered, their family members who do not take to the throne are often left to languish in the footnotes of history. Authors Anne O'Brien (The Shadow Queen) and Joanna Hickson (First of the Tudors) have a profound interest in these lesser-known characters and strive to put them in the limelight. Join them at this enthralling talk to find out more about the fascinating lives of Joan of Kent, mother of King Richard II, and Jasper Tudor, half-brother to King Henry VI, and what it takes to fictionalise real people. They will be in conversation with Dr Liz Oakley-Brown of Lancaster University.
Anne and Joanna will talk about their books before taking audience questions and signing copies of their novels. The event will last approximately one hour, not including the time taken for the book signing.
Tickets cost £5/£3 for concessions and are available to buy in store and online.
