Kamal Ahmed and Minna Salami: The Life and Times of a Very British Man
Tuesday 6th November 18:30 at London - Gower Street
We’re delighted to be hosting an event with BBC Economics Editor Kamal Ahmed for his forthcoming book The Life and Times of a Very British Man (Bloomsbury), his revealing, honest and often comic coming-of-age story about growing up in 1970s Britain on the boundaries of race.
Half English, half Sudanese, Kamal was raised in 1970s London at a time when being mixed-race meant being told to go home, even when you were born just down the road. He’ll be in conversation with journalist and author Minna Salami, aka Ms Afropolitan, making the case for a new conversation about race in Britain through personal stories, political analysis and passionate belief in the ultimate good of this country – white, black and brown.
Kamal will be signing copies of the book afterwards.
Numbers strictly limited, please book promptly to avoid disappointment. Tickets are £8/6 (students) and include a glass of wine or soft drink. Book online, in store or by phoning 020 7636 1577.
