The Reading Cure: How Books Restored my Appetite with Laura Freeman
Tuesday 27th March 18:30 at London - Gower Street
Join us on March 27th for a delicious and inspiring evening as journalist and author, Laura Freeman as she speaks to critic Lucy Scholes about her new bibliomemoir, The Reading Cure: How Books Restored my Appetite, and the curative power of reading.
The Reading Cure recounts how Laura, diagnosed with anorexia at age fourteen, re-discovered how to enjoy food (and life more broadly) through reading. Book by book, meal by meal, Laura developed an appetite and discovered an entire library of reasons to live.
From plum puddings in Dickens to Robert Graves' appreciation of a pair of greengages and Virginia Woolf's painterly descriptions of bread, blackberries and biscuits, Laura Freeman will be discussing how books and food can restore appetite and renew hope.
