Historical Women and Women's History

We're thrilled to be celebrating International Women's Day 2022 with the incredible Annie Garthwaite whose novel Cecily explores the life of Cecily Neville, Duchess of York, who was one of the women at the heart of the War of the Roses.
Annie Garthwaite grew up in a working-class community in the north-east of England. She studied English at the University of Wales before embarking on a thirty-year international business career. In 2017 she returned to her first love, books, and set out to write the story of a woman she had always felt drawn to: Cecily Neville. This became her debut novel, Cecily.
Annie will be in conversation with Dr Tory Young, lecturer in modern and contemporary literature at Anglia Ruskin University, about this historical woman and women in history.
