Grand Union: Zadie Smith in conversation with Diana Evans

Wednesday 2nd October 2019
19:00 at The Royal Institution, 21 Albemarle St, London, W1S 4BS

Zadie Smith, bestselling and award-winning author, will be joining us to discuss her brand new – and first – collection of short stories Grand Union.

Moving exhilaratingly across genres and perspectives, from the historic to the vividly current to the slyly dystopian, Grand Union is a sharply alert and prescient collection about time and place, identity and rebirth. Interweaving 11 completely new and unpublished stories with some her best-loved pieces from The New Yorker and elsewhere, Zadie presents an incredibly rich and varied collection of fiction.

Zadie Smith is best-known for novels White Teeth, On Beauty and Swing Time, alongside novellas and essay collections. Elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002, Zadie is currently a tenured professor of fiction at New York University and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Zadie will be interviewed by Diana Evans, award-winning author of Ordinary People, The Wonder and 26a.

This event will include a signing. Zadie will only be signing copies of Grand Union.

Please join us for what promises to be a brilliant evening.
