GEEKCON 2024 stall and author signings: Waterstones at the Mander Centre. GEEKCON 2024 stall and author signings: Waterstones at the Mander Centre.

We'll be inside the Mander Centre on Saturday November 23rd at the perennially popular GEEKCON! We'll have a stall selling our very best geeky books and games, and we're also delighted to say that we'll have a couple of brilliant authors popping along during the day to meet readers and sign copies of their books!

Acclaimed fantasy writer Stephen Aryan will be with us at 1pm to sign copies of his novels including his most recent series, The Nightingale and the Falcon, book 2 of which, The Blood Dimmed Tide, has just been published.

At 2.30pm we'll be joined at the stall by Richard Wells, whose incredible illustrations adorn his beautifully curated anthologies of folk horror tales, Damnable Tales and Tales Accursed.

Stephen Aryan is an award winning fantasy author. He has written two trilogies, the Age of Darkness, and the Age of Dread, plus a prequel novella, set in the magic-infused world of Mordana.

He has also written the Quest for Heroes duology, The Coward and The Warrior, published by Angry Robot Books. The Coward received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and it said “This is a knockout.”

The Judas Blossom, the first instalment in a Persian-inspired historical fantasy trilogy, The Nightingale and the Falcon was published in July 2023. The second in the trilogy, The Blood Dimmed Tide was published 9 July 2024 by Angry Robot Books. The third in the trilogy, The Sorrow of the Sea will be published in May 2025.

Richard Wells is an illustrator and graphic designer.  Primarily working in the television industry, he has provided graphic props for the likes of Sherlock, Doctor Who, and the 2020 BBC adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.  He also created the titular haunted print in Mark Gatiss' 2021 A Ghost Story for Christmas adaptation of M. R. James' The Mezzotint. Outside of his television work, he makes and sells his own darkly folkloric artwork, often lino cut and hand-printed. He is the curator and illustrator of the Folk Horror anthologies Damnable Tales and Tales Accursed.

If you'd like to reserve copies of Stephen's or Richard's books ahead of the event, or can't come along and you'd like us to get something signed/dedicated for you, give us a call on 01902 427219.
