GAMES CELEBRATION DAY 2024

Get ready for demo games, ticketed side events, Bring and Buy bargains, quiz, raffle, and more! Open gaming will begin at 6pm throughout the shop.

Guests include:

  • Asmodee: leading distributor of tabletop games and accessories in the UKsuch as Dobble and Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

  • Alley Cat: creators of fun and thematic board games such as Tinderblox and Rome in a Day

  • Chaosium: publisher of table-top role playing games that are your gateway to a mythic adventure including Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest running speedy demo sessions.

  • DNDice: Gaming accessories specialists. Running D&D sessions showcasing their amazing dice, trays and mats. 

  • Guntower Games: designer and publisher of games including the space survival boardgame Pandora Celeste

  • How Am I Weird: designer of family friendly games for the weird and wonderful including How Am I Weird and AngerSmash

  • Meeple Designs: a vendor with wonderful gaming merchandise including t-shirts, posters, and mugs

  • Osprey: publisher and distributor of strategic boardgames including Cryptid and High Society

  • Schnarf Games:small independent tabletop board game publisher and the home to the post-apocalyptic board game Survive Alive

  • Thames and Kosmos: a distributor of board games includingthe EXIT games series, Imhotep and The Crew

  • The Box Room Cafe: Cambridge's fabulous board game café located on Regent Street that boasts over 400 board games for all ages

     


Ticketed side events:

  • Children’s Story Adventure Game: 4:30 to 5:30pm

  • Dungeons and Dragons:

    • lead by DnDice – 4:30 to 6:45pm; 7:30 to 9:45pm

    • Magic Library one shot from 5 to 9pm

  • Blood on the Clocktower:

    • beginners:4:306:45pm; 7:309:45pm

    • intermediate: 4:306:45pm; 7:309:45pm

Please note, there are limited spaces for these side events. We recommend reserving a slot prior to arrival along with your admissions ticket (General Admission/Waterstones Loyalty Cardholder/Kids Admission).

 

Bring and Buy: We understand that some people have a lot of games and are ready to trade their old stuff into new, shiny games. At the Games Celebration day we are offering a Bring and Buy Service.

As a seller: you can check in any number of games. Please know ahead of time how much you want to price them. There is a deposit to pay of £2 per game which is put on a Waterstones Gift Card, held by staff until check out. At check out you will collect any unpurchased games along with your gift card containing the deposit value and the value of your sold items.

As a buyer:you inform a member of staff at the Bring and Buy if there is something you wish to purchase. You will pay the labelled value of the game onto the seller’s gift card… and you can go enjoy a new game!

Raffle: This year, we’re introducing a raffle! We have a bountiful treasure trove of prizes including games from LOKE Battle Mats, gift cards, and more!

All ticket holders will be given a raffle ticket upon arrival. Want to increase your chances? Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for £2 per ticket or £5 for 3 tickets. Drawing will take place at 7pm on the first floor (but will be announced throughout the shop).

Quiz: This year’s quiz will will test your knowledge on all things games. The quiz will take place at 9pm in the second floor cafe.
