Forgotten Fiction: ‘A Tale of Two Berlins’

Wednesday 30th October 18:30 at London - Gower Street

Forgotten Fiction is a monthly book club where we travel back in time to rediscover 'lost' literary gems of the 20th Century. Hosted by Elizabeth Morris on the last Wednesday of the month, each session is curated around a specific theme, and features carefully chosen books to provide the basis for our discussion.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, October’s club will examine ‘A Tale of Two Berlins’via a discussion of Peter Schneider’s 1982 novella The Wall Jumper. Through minor characters; overlapping stories of half-forgotten, uncelebrated times; and the man who leaps across the Wall again and again – simply because he cannot help himself – The Wall Jumper captures a time and mood which vanished abruptly in November 1989.

As always, our brand of discussion is light-hearted, informal & non-academic, and our journey will be fuelled by gin-and-tonics served in jam jars.
