Dark Tales and Fantastical Worlds: Mythology and Folklore in YA
Friday 30th September 18:30 at London - Piccadilly
Join us for an evening of fascinating tales and fantastical worlds, as authors Peadar O’Guilin and Laure Eve discuss how traditional myths and folklore create hypnotic and engaging worlds in YA fiction. The event will be chaired by Waterstones Piccadilly favourite Katherine Webber.
Peadar O’Guilin is a powerful and original new voice in YA Fiction but has been writing curious stories for as long as he can remember. Language, landscape and the history of ancient Ireland are important themes for Peadar and he has worked them all into THE CALL, his first novel for Young Adults published by David Fickling Books.
Laure Eve is a French-British hybrid who grew up in Cornwall, a place saturated with myth and fantasy. Being a child of two cultures taught her everything she needed to know about trying to fit in at the same time as trying to stand out. THE GRACES is her third novel, published by Faber & Faber.
Katherine Webber is a YA author and a programme coordinator at the reading charity BookTrust. Her YA debut WING JONES will be published by Walker Books on January 5.
