Dark Societies: An Evening With Stephanie Garber And Katherine Webber

The Post-Apocalyptic book club presents Dark Societies: An Evening With Stephanie Garber And Katherine Webber

Stephanie Garber wanted to be an explorer until she realised most of the world had already been discovered. So she started creating her own worlds. When she’s not writing, Stephanie teaches creative writing at a private college in northern California. Caraval is her debut novel.

Welcome to Caraval

Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny isle of Trisda, pining from afar for the wonder of CARAVAL, a once-a-year week-long performance where the audience participates in the show.

CARAVAL is Magic. Mystery. Adventure.

For Scarlett and her beloved and wild younger sister Tella it represents freedom, an escape from her ruthless, abusive father and from her own dark past.

KATHERINE WEBBER is a living example of what you can achieve with optimism. For many years she has made it her business to be a part of the book world. She was born in Southern California, where she was raised as a Mormon. She studied Chinese literature and language at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and comparative literature at the University of California. She has attended every book launch possible, interviewed authors, and made a name for herself as the biggest YA fangirl in the country.

Wing Jones

An uplifting and refreshing debut, Wing Jones is the story of family, tragedy and love – and what you can achieve with optimism and belief in yourself. Fifteen year old Wing has grown up in the shadow of her athletic and handsome brother, who has thrived where Wing has struggled with the mixed blessings of a Ghanaian and Chinese heritage. Where he is a popular and skilled football player, Wing simply feels too tall, too big, with hair too curly – and like she fits in nowhere in her 1990s Atlanta High School.
