An Evening with Owain Service and Tim Harford.
Tuesday 20th June 2017
19:00 - 20:30 at
Waterstones, London - Piccadilly

Join us for an evening with Owain Service, co-author with Rory Gallagher, of Think Small: the Surprisingly Simple Ways to Reach Big Goals in conversation with Tim Harford, best-selling author of Messy, and the forthcoming Fifty Things that Made the Modern Economy.
This evening will be a fascinating exploration of how and why we make the decisions that shape our everyday lives. By drawing on insights from the last fifty years of behavioural science, the authors know the huge impact that small changes and clear plans can have from an individual to an international level. For the first time, Think Small takes these successful approaches and translates them into an easy, simple framework that has the potential to make a big difference to all our lives.
Owain Service is the managing director of the Behavioural Insights Team, which started life inside 10 Downing Street as the world’s first government institution dedicated to the application of behavioural sciences. He was previously a deputy director of the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, where he led programmes of work on public service reform, education and energy. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield. Think Small: the Surprisingly Simple Ways to Reach Big Goals, co-authored with Rory Gallagher, is his first book.
Tim Harford is a senior columnist at the Financial Times, and his writing has appeared everywhere from Esquire and Wired to the Washington Post and the New York Times. Harford is a visiting fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, was named Economics Commentator of the Year in 2014 and won the Royal Statistical Society Journalistic Excellence Award 2015 and the Society of Business Economists Writing Prize 2014-15.He has spoken about his ideas at TED and at the Sydney Opera House.
