An evening with Kamel Daoud in conversation with Patrick McGuinness

Friday 27th May 18:30 at London - Tottenham Court Road

Winner of the Prix Goncourt du Premier Roman, Kamel Daoud’s The Meursault Investigation has been described by the Financial Times as ‘perhaps the most important novel to emerge out of the Middle East in recent memory’. An essential companion to Camus’ classic The Outsider, it tells the story of ‘the Arab’ as his brother resolves to bring him out of obscurity by giving him a name, Musa – and a voice, describing the events that led to his senseless murder on a dazzling beach in Algeria. A profound meditation on Arab identity and the disastrous effects of colonialism, The Meursault Investigation is a stunning work of literature in its own right.

Join us in the TCR basement as Kamel Daoud dicusses his stunning work with Patrick Guinness (Professor of French and Comparative Literature at Oxford University) in French with translation into English by Lucie Campos of the Institut francais.
