An Evening with Clare Whitfield
Tuesday 10th January 2023
18:00 at
Waterstones, Winchester - High Street

Winchester High Street’s Bob Smith will be talking to author Clare Wnitfield about her novels, 2020’s People of Abandoned Character and last year’s The Gone and the Forgotten.
Her debut, People of Abandoned Character, a novel constructed around the Jack the Ripper murders, won the 2021 Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award; the shortlist of which included Colum McCann’s Apeirogan, Abi Dare’s The Girl with the Louding Voice and Stuart Turton’s The Devil and the Dark Water.
Her second novel, The Gone and the Forgotten, is a coming of age psychological thriller set in early ‘90s Shetland.
'Set during one long summer in Shetland, this beautifully drawn, psychologically astute novel about a young woman's search for truth, even as she realises the lies that sorround her have been keeping her safe.'
