An Evening of [Short] stories An Evening of [Short] stories

Join us for ‘An Evening of Stories’, with three new, bold and different collections by acclaimed writers; Eley Williams, Jan Carson and Gregory Norminton. The evening will feature readings from all the collections, followed by a short writers discussion and Q&A. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to have your booked signed.

About the authors
Eley Williams’s Attrib. and other stories celebrates the tricksiness of language just as it confronts its limits. Correspondingly, the stories are littered with the physical ephemera of language: dictionaries, dog-eared pages, bookmarks and old coffee stains on older books.. She is co-editor of fiction at 3:AM magazine and assists the independent publishers Copy Press. She teaches both creative writing and children's literature at Royal Holloway, University of London, where she was recently awarded her doctorate.

Gregory Norminton’s The Ghost Who Bled spans centuries and continents, the stories in this collection amount to a tour de force of literary worldbuilding. His stories have appeared on BBC Radio 4, and in Prospect, Resurgence, London Magazine and The Lonely Crowd. He teaches creative writing and English at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Jan Carson’ Postcard Stories is the highlights of a year of writing. Each day of 2015 Jan Carson wrote a short story on the back of a postcard and mailed it to a friend. Each of these tiny stories was inspired by an event, an overheard conversation, a piece of art or just a fleeting glance of something worth thinking about further. She won the 2016 Harper’s Bazaar Short Story Competition, and is a highlighted writer in this year’s International Literature Showcase, run by the British Council and Writers’ Centre Norwich.

Tickets cost £8/£6 with a Waterstones Card and include a glass of wine/soft drink and £3 off any of the books on the evening. Tickets are available online, in store and by phone. Any questions or queries please do get in touch.
