Alwyn Hamilton in conversation with Samantha Shannon at Piccadilly

We are thrilled to welcome Alwyn Hamilton to discuss her glittering new young adult fantasy thriller, The Notorious Virtues. Nora Holtzfall is the daughter of the most powerful heiress in Gammanix; her family controls all the money – and all the magic – in the entire country. But when her mother is found murdered in an alley, the family throne and fortune are up for grabs, which means Nora will be pitted against her cousins in the deadly Veritaz trials to determine who is the rightful inheritor.

New York Times bestselling author Alwyn Hamilton was born in Toronto and spent her early years bouncing between Europe and Canada until her parents settled in France. She moved to the UK when she was 18 and has been here ever since as an author/bookseller. Her first novel Rebel of the Sands was sold in 14 territories and won the Goodreads Choice Award for best debut.

Samantha Shannon is the New York Times and Sunday Times-bestselling author of The Bone Season series. Her work has been translated into twenty-six languages. Her fourth novel, The Priory of the Orange Tree, was her first outside of The Bone Season series and was an international bestseller. It was followed by a prequel, A Day of Fallen Night, in 2023. She lives in London.
