We're thrilled to be hosting a brilliant fantasy panel in conjunction with the British Fantasy Society on the 11th of March at 7pm!
The panel will be titled 'A Conversation on Characterisation' and we will be joined by authors Stephanie Burgis, Alethea Lyons, Mike Brooks, and Dan Hanks.
Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis: This book is the start of a delightful, funny and seductive romantasy trilogy, set in a gaslamp-lit world where hags and ogres lurk in thick pine forests and genteel court intrigues can turn deadly.
The Way Up is Death by Dan Hanks: With no understanding of what the tower is or why they've been chosen, thirteen seemingly random strangers must battle to reach the top of a tower before the countdown clock reaches zero... and the world faces a potentially catastrophic fate.
The Hiding by Alethea Lyons: Arcane archivist Harper has always been plagued by dreams of grotesque creatures and bloody deaths. When she bumps into a ghostwalker in the Shambles and has a visceral experience of his execution, she knows it’s a foretelling. Yet fear of the Queen’s Guard stops her speaking out. When her vision indeed comes true, the unusual markings on the ghostwalker’s corpse, combined with his neatly excised vocal cords, send a ripple of terror through York.
The Black Coast by Mike Brooks: When the citizens of Black Keep see ships on the horizon, terror takes them because they know who is coming: for generations, the keep has been raided by the fearsome clanspeople of Tjakorsha. Saddling their war dragons, Black Keep's warriors rush to defend their home only to discover that the clanspeople have not come to pillage at all. Driven from their own land by a daemonic despot who prophesises the end of the world, the raiders come in search of a new home.
The event will be chaired by Katie Bruce, current Events Organiser for the Yorkshire and Humber region of the British Fantasy Society!
This event will be made up of a 45 minute talk followed by a 15 minute Q&A and then a signing with the authors at the end.
