We are very pleased to be hosting a talk with Miranda Seymour on her new “double-biography”: In Byron's Wake – this is a book to behold!
In 1816, Annabella Milbanke fled from her notorious husband Lord Byron, taking with her their baby daughter, the future Ada Lovelace. Ada became a pioneering mathematician and leading scientist, using Faraday's experiments with light refraction to explore distant stars and predicting the dawn of the modern computer age.
Miranda Seymour paints a masterful portrait of these two remarkable women, the clever Annabella Milbanke and Daughter Ada Lovelace, revealing how their turbulent lives were haunted by the spirit of Lord Byron.
One of Ada's childhood homes was in Hampstead and we are humbled to be paying homage to her with this event. In Byron’s Wake: The Turbulent Lives of Lord Byron's Wife and Daughter, Annabella Milbanke and Ada Lovelace is a fantastic achievement and this talk is not to be missed.
