One of the North West’s most innovative literary festivals, Manchester Literature Festival specialises in showcasing and commissioning imaginative writing from fiction and poetry to secular sermons. A firm believer in the transformative power of words and stories, MLF’s annual Festival includes some of the most interesting voices in fiction, poetry, literature in translation, song-writing, activism and culture.
For Autumn 2021, Manchester Literature Festival will be delivering its first hybrid Festival. From 9-17 October 2021, MLF LIVE will feature 20 intimate In Conversations and poetry showcases at select venues in Manchester city centre. This will be followed by MLF DIGITAL from 1-30 November 2021 where viewers will be able to enjoy both select recordings from MLF LIVE and a series of New Commissions and In Conversations with 'acclaimed national and international authors and poets including Bernardine Evaristo, Elizabeth Strout, Monique Roffey, Ingrid Persaud, Elif Shafak, Colm Toibin, Jeanette Winterson, Alan Johnson, Caleb Azumah Nelson & Brandon Taylor, C Pam Zhang & Bryan Washington, Kayo Chingonyi & Andrew McMillan, Malika Booker, Mark O'Connell, Rebecca Solnit, Dara McAnulty and Rachel Holmes & Lemn Sissay on Sylvia Pankhurst. Music lovers can enjoy Bobby Gillespie talking about his memoir, Bob Stanley & Tessa Norton discussing The Fall and Paul Morley & LoneLady on music legend Tony Wilson.
