The Writers' Prize 2024 Winners

It is our great pleasure to confirm The Home Child by Liz Berry as the Writers' Prize Book of the Year 2024 as well as the winner of the Poetry category. The Wren, The Wren by Anne Enright wins the Writers' Prize 2024 for Fiction, whilst Thunderclap by Laura Cumming scoops the Writers' Prize 2024 for Non-Fiction.

Formerly known as the Rathbones Folio Prize, The Writers’ Prize is one of the most varied and wide-ranging literary awards and the only UK prize open to any work of literature, regardless of form.

Inspired by the real-life story of Berry's great aunt who was sent to work in Canada as a child in the early twentieth century, The Home Child is a lyrical evocation of displacement, identity and connection in a frightening new environment.
